Egyptian Museum

This weekends journey took me to the worlds second largest Egyptian museum, second only to the one in Cairo, Egypt (which seems fair). I got a ton of pictures so this will have more pictures than words for the most part.

However, before getting to the museum, we bought a museum pass for €30 which gets us into 108 museums for free. it was pretty cool but on the way out, in the piazza, we saw this
yep, that's people trying to sell CDs of Native American music.

Yes, that's Aladdin on the nose of a Sphinx

that's a comb in the middle right up front. when you look at it, doesn't look like combs have changed much in 3500 years...

this was labeled as a chair. i guess its what they would carry the king in on

a typical burial chamber

Flip Flops from ancient egypt
I dont know how some of this stuff has lasted 3500 years. i cant get a pair of flip flops to last more than a couple years, let alone a couple millennium.

A Queens necklace

Egyptian depiction of a Roman Castle

Looks awfully roman to me. i never realized how much these cultures mixed and mingled.

Tawereet is only dangerous when his eyes are just above the water and he wiggles his ears though.

Is it a rule that sphinxes cant have a nose?

This was actually a Roman depiction of Egyptian things, done in Rome with Bronze some 2500 years ago

one of the statue rooms

Ladies who are pregnant, meet your protector... yes, he is a midget.

Entrance to the Temple of Ellesija which is in the museum, in its entirety

Ancient board games

More combs, still cant get over how modern they look. my guess is these were not used by any descendants of the Bernard family... we were balding even back then...

A queens wig or Bob Marley's hair... I'm not sure which one

A King's bed with head rest

Hope you enjoyed all the pictures! I did the captions pretty quickly so just add a comment if you have any questions on any of the pictures!
